Time to focus on myself.

I’ve realised it’s time to step back, refocus, and put my own business first. My energy needs to be spent on developing my ideas, refining my hosting policies, and completing my own websites. For too long, I’ve poured hours into helping others — building sites, offering advice, and going above and beyond — often for little or no return. While I’ve been happy to help, this approach hasn’t been sustainable for my web design business.

Going forward, I’ll be updating my policies with all clients, tightening up the scope of services, and limiting the time spent on each project. My “freebie” approach is coming to an end. Premium services will still be available, but they will now be charged at a fair rate.

The first step will be to write up formal agreements and policies for my existing clients. These will also be added to the Ashlee Jenkins website as clear terms and conditions. I’ll be revamping my hosting packages to outline exactly what’s included, making it clear that any extras will no longer be complimentary.

This may sound like I’ve turned into Scrooge after years of offering my services at little to no cost. But the truth is, kindness can sometimes be mistaken for obligation. Over time, generosity stops being appreciated and starts being expected. That’s on me for allowing it to happen. Now, I’m making a change — setting clear rules not only for my services, but for myself. It’s time to value my work the same way I encourage others to value theirs.
